Gerard continued his basketball career at Haverford College, where he also did a course of study that prepared him for his career working in the New York City financial district. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. He attended St. Agnes elementary school, graduating in 1976, and, during those years, served as a faithful altar boy at St. Agnes Church.
